Mavi is Washington DC’s blue maven of the sword: a dark fusion belly dance artist known for her compelling presence, connectivity with her audience, sensual movements, her dark  aesthetic, thematic interpretations, and mastery of balancing blades.

A featured performer on the Gothic Belly Dance Revelations DVD by World Dance New York, she has shared the stage with national and international acts, including Peter Murphy, Chebb i Sabbah, Beats Antique, the Dresden Dolls, Android Lust, and Corvus Corax.

Mavi is a former member of Martiya Possession–one of the first Gothic belly dance troupes in the United States and traveled and performed extensively with the renowned Washington DC-area tribal fusion dance company Römká.

Industrial Power-Sensual Seduction
Explore the darker side of dance with one of the east coast’s first gothic belly dancers.This workshop will explore elements of gothic belly dance - Industrial power to sensual seduction. Explore the genre with short coreographies, musical interpretation, locks, pops, arms, traveling and flourishes to make the music visible. Mavi will also share her personal philosophy for creating gothic inspired belly dance performance pieces, with an emphasis on stage presence, and channeling your dark inner diva.
